At a minimum, GAAP_® requires the General Ledger Module.  All other modules may be purchased and installed in any combination and in any order - all modules automatically link and interface to the General Ledger and any other appropriate modules—for example: Accounts Payable auto-links to Purchasing and Payroll auto-links to Job Cost and Accounts Receivable.
